Sammis Reyes

Sammis Reyes (pronounced SAM-is), a native of Talcahuano, Chile, joins the Minnesota Vikings through the NFL International Player Pathway (IPP) program. Reyes originally entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent with the Washington Commanders in 2021, playing in 11 games and making one start. He became the first Chilean-born player to appear in an NFL game when he made his debut with the Commanders in Week 5 of the 2021 season. Reyes spent the 2022 season on the Chicago Bears' practice squad and signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars in May of 2023, spending three months with the club.

As a basketball student-athlete during his collegiate career, Reyes attended Hawaii for one semester before transferring to Palm Beach State Junior College. He then transferred to Tulane for the 2016-17 and 2017-18 seasons, before finishing his tenure at Loyola University in Louisiana. He appeared in 30 games at forward during his first season with the Green Wave and averaged 0.8 points, 1.5 rebounds and 0.4 blocks in 8.2 minutes per contest. Reyes joined the Chilean National Basketball Team in September of 2017 for training camp in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, for 2019 China World Cup qualifying.
